K-Kampus

K-Kampus

HQ of K Group, Kalasatama, Helsinki

dSign was asked to design a totally new visitor experience at the K-Kampus, the new headquarters of Kesko Corporation, the biggest retail operator in Finland.

The heart of the building is the sky-high atrium hall, where employees and visitors can intermingle. The multiuse space also works both as a showroom and event space and can be divided in various ways for different functions, from small gatherings to spectacular employee, partner, and customer events.

All three of Kesko’s strategic business areas, including the grocery trade, the building and technical trade and the car trade are showcased along the visitor path, a spatial experience that invites guests into the world of Kesko. The visitor path guides guests from the check-in counter to the waiting area, giving them a behind-the-scenes view of the campus’ Demo-kitchen and broadcasting-studio, where cooking shows are filmed. All the spaces are meant to be multiuse: the demo-kitchen can be converted into a bar in the evening, and the employee restaurant in the first floor can be used as working café outside of lunch time.

To encourage even unexpected connections, in the heart of the atrium there is a cafeteria meant to serve both employees and visitors.

The thorough design process took took altogether three years. K-Kampus was opened in October 2019.

We’ve been happy to learn that not only the visitors have been impressed with K-Kampus – the employees have praised the outcome as a five-star workplace.
